They say - what is there to understand here "Man" is an Arabic word which is general
A ghair muqallid came to me from Dubai, friends from Chakwal brought him, saying he wants to understand an issue

I said: first tell me what you have understood from it, so it is easier for me to explain.
He said: it says in a hadith " La salaata li man lam yaqra" "whoever doesn't read the Fateha his Salaat is not valid" this "man" is general, whether it be a follower or alone or an imam.
I said: you say "man" is general but the Quran says "man" is specific, should I believe you or the Quran.
People were surprised, I said: he says "man" is general and the Quran says it is specific.
Where does it say that? I said: the Quran says "yaztagh firoona li man fil ardh" "the angles ask forgiveness for those who live on earth" but even Pharaoh was on earth, likewise Qaroon, and Pervaiz Musharraf.
There are so many transgressors on earth, do the angles ask forgiveness for all? He said: No.
I asked: who do they ask forgiveness for? He said: for the believers.
I said: you say "man" is general, the Quran says "man" is specific now tell me should I listen to you or to the Quran.
He said: I'll investigate it and let you know.
I said: why were you lying to them that "if I understand it, I'll accept it" now explain that to me!
He said: I'll check, I said: who will you check with? will you ask the Prophet SAW? Who do you have to ask?
You will be asking a maulvi, am I not a maulvi, why don't you ask me.
This is strange, your maulvi is correct in his sayings, he receives revelation!
If we say something then it is wrong! explain it to me or call some elder of yours, I'm sitting right here, make that call! you waste our time! you came from Chakwal I gave you 2 hours.
I told them ahead of time that he wont accept it, he is lying!
We have this misunderstanding that the maulana should explain it to such a person
Allah is a witness, I dont entertain them, I ask them to be removed, they'll waste our time, then a message will run in Dir Kot, after I leave that "a college kid spoke to the maulana for an hour and the maulana couldn't convince him".
Was God able to convince Iblees? So say, Iblees was a great debater even God couldn't beat him.
It's strange! if a person is willing to accept, then you try to convince him.
If he has already decided when he comes, then how can you convince him
